# A little woodland escape

Trail House is built around one core game: Woodland 2048. The numbers stay familiar while seeds, leaves, mushrooms and animals mark your progress through the forest. Reaching 2048 brings you to the sunshine tile.

## What this edition offers

- Original woodland illustrations for all eleven numbered tiles.
- Keyboard, touch and direction-button controls.
- Optional muted-by-default sound and support for reduced motion.
- A saved unfinished round and personal best when browser storage is available.

There are no player accounts, payments or online leaderboards in this edition. The [play guide](how-to-play.html) describes its rules and controls.

## Where the puzzle began

[2048 was created by Gabriele Cirulli](https://github.com/gabrielecirulli/2048). Woodland 2048 has its own interface, artwork and implementation of the sliding-and-merging rules. It is an independent edition, not an official Cirulli website.

## How we write field notes

Our field notes explain a specific question with board examples you can try. Advice describes a useful habit, not a guaranteed winning formula. This site's initial notes were prepared with AI assistance and checked against this edition's game rules and worked examples. Future AI-assisted drafts are reviewed before publication.

If an explanation seems wrong or a control is difficult to use, see [contact](contact.html).
